Ugo Rondinone chose 31 artists, all issued from different circles, to put back together bits of today’s art environment and create a new work in tribute to “The Third Mind”, William S.Burroughs & Brion Gysin’s book on the cut-up.

An unpublished set of influential and still topical works of art makes up this collective remixing: wax body parts trapped in yellow Plexiglas by Paul Thek (1966), haunted photograms by Bruce Conner, precursor of the video clip, or still “Three Elements” - huge geometric works by Ronald Bladen, precursor of the minimal art. All in all: a very politically committed vision of the Beat Generation, both psychedelic and paranoid… Enough to ponder on our dreams and anguish.
