from Jason Reitman
Since the mini strip tease in “Little Miss Sunshine”, the French audience eats up American comedy. Just look at the queues for "Juno"! The cinema venues are full! The Frogs are entranced by the adventures of American teenager who "talks" a yellow short wearing nerd with no interest in sex into making love to her...And damn...She becomes pregnant.
After 3 pregnancy tests, no doubt, she's got a bun in oven. She does carry a human baby frog with nails in her belly. From this point on she starts looking for serious adoptive parents.
What's really moving is her cynical sense of humour. That's what's also unsettling. She has no shyness or shame. She may have the belly of a German beer drinker: she deals with it. Maybe it's because young woman wrote the script, not a young girl who might have been more ill at ease, more reserved.
Careful again, the audience is so hooked that they laugh all the time. You'll see, as soon as they see the yellow short, they laugh... Sometimes, when people laugh constantly, it can be boring.
So in Paris, try instead the less crowded matinees.
