Crack Addict.
The latest installation at the Tate Modern Turbine
Hall is Doris Salcedo’s Shibboleth, a long
concrete crack that widens as it runs the length of the floor of the hall.
Apparently, the crack shows a ‘colonial and imperial history that
has been disregarded, marginalised or simply obliterated.
Hugely noisy and hugely busy, the crack experience becomes
somehow hugely addictive, as an enjoyable way to watch the tectonic movements
of mankind.
